December kicks off steelhead fishing. We usually target these chrome missiles through February. This can be one of the best angling times of the year! There is nothing more exciting than having one of these prized catches ripping line off your reel.
We saw our first Winter Steelhead on the Umpqua in mid November. This is a good sign. Our returns should be much stronger this year, and we had a good season last year.
For those of you fishing yarn, try using the Pautzke Nectar. I have become a big believer in this product.
